Keep an ideas list

You may not have any ideas right now, but I’m sure there was a time you had a really great blog post in mind that you’ve since forgotten. Collect ideas as they come in one place and this will help out during times of writer’s block.

List Post

People love list posts, just like this one. Give your readers a quick list with answers to something they’re looking for.

Look for inspiration in your niche

You should always be looking at what other bloggers in your niche are writing about. I am not saying you should steal their content, but there is nothing wrong with using a popular bloggers headline to inspire a blog post of your own.

Also pay attention to their engagement. Are their blog posts getting comments? What questions is their audience asking? Answer those questions with your own blog.

Interview other content creators in your Niche

In addition to looking for inspiration from other creators, you can also interview them to give your readers another perspective on your niche.

Try engaging with other bloggers for about a week or two and then ask if they would like to be featured in your blog. This is great because it gives you access to their audience as well, so make sure you have tons of bingeable content already published!

Guest Post

Instead of interviewing someone, maybe you can just have them write a guest post for your blog. This takes some of the pressure off you because all you have to do is give it a proofread before it goes out. This is always an option, as long as it’s in your budget.

Put your own Twist on Trends

Pay attention to what is going on in the blogging world.

You may be able to identify certain trends. For instance, if you are in the traveling niche and you notice that tons of people are writing what’s in my carry on? then you should probably hop on that bandwagon as well! Obviously don’t copy, but use the trending topic to your advantage while it’s still hot.

Current Events in Your Niche

Another thing you can do is respond to current events in your niche. If you are in the fashion niche, there is always somebody getting canceled. You can respond to that and give your thoughts.

Be mindful that these posts can be seen as controversial and you may get some hate. Either way, page views are page views, so do what you want!

Ask your audience

If you have an established audience, ask them what they want to learn from you. Wherever you engage with your readers, start a conversation and pick out common inquiries. Add everything to your blog post planner so you can stay organized and refer back to it.

Use Answer The Public

Answer the public is a great free resource when you have absolutely no idea where to start. Type in some keywords in your niche and find tons of blog ideas that people are searching for.

Find Content Gaps with Market Research

There are tons of places you can conduct market research.

For my niche, my favorite places to find content gaps are facebook groups and youtube comment sections. Once you know where your audience goes to find their information, this will be a piece of cake. All you’ll have to do is sit back and read what people are asking.

Build on old Blog Posts

If you have a couple blog posts under your belt, go back and read through them. I’m sure there is something there that you can add on. For instance, I wrote this post giving bloggers some legal requirements they probably never knew about. I followed up with another post on how to add a privacy policy and disclaimers to your site and linked it in the original post.

Combine old Blog Posts

When you’re going through those old posts, you may find some that can be combined in some way to form a pillar post. Maybe you have two or three popular posts that can be highlighted in a new article. Then you can link out to the earlier posts for more info.

Link Post

Another thing you can try is creating one central post where you include all the links in one topic. For instance, I created Everything You Need to Know to Become a Successful Mommy Blogger just to have a central place where readers can go to find all my relevant articles. At the time of publishing, I only had 8 blogging posts written, but I go back and add the link everytime I publish something new.

Promote other Content You’ve Created

You can treat this like an affiliate post or even a sponsored post. Only you are the brand. If you have products you sell, social media you want to promote, etc. create a blog post about it.

Affiliate Post Promoting Something That Helps You

Speaking of affiliate posts, you can create one to promote a product or course that you use and love! Obviously you want it to fit in with your niche so it can convert well.

Comparison Post

In addition to a regular affiliate post, you can also do a comparison post. This is typically comparing two or more affiliate products and allowing your audience to decide which is best for them based on the information you present. Do not sway readers to go with the more expensive product just to line your pockets. This will damage the trust you’ve worked so hard to establish.

Pros and Cons Post

Another kind of affiliate post you can try is a pros and cons list. Highlight the pros and cons of a particular product or membership and allow your readers to do whatever they want with that information. Do not sway readers to go with the product just because it has a high payout. You will lose your credibility.

Giveaway/Freebie Post

While we’re on the topic of products, you can give something away for free. Some folks frown upon freebies because they don’t understand the value of it. Most online business owners will testify that at least half of their income generated from a free offer.

Share something You’ve Learned About your Niche

You can always write something along the lines of [x] things I wish I knew or [x] things I learned this year about [niche] this year. These posts perform really well and can prevent people from making the same mistakes you did.

Write a Beginners Guide

People come to your blog for a reason. To get some value. Give it to them with a beginners guide for your niche. Give them the full step by step rundown. Make sure you have a good CTA and link out relevant posts you’ve already created.

Expose Your Blogging Income/Progress

People love these kinds of posts. It’s great for 1. people who want to get into blogging and are interested in your niche, and 2. those nosy folks who are trying to convince themselves blogging isn’t a real job. Either way, it’ll probably perform well, so go for it if you’re comfortable spilling the tea.

Seasonal Posts

These kinds of posts are great because they can flop one year and then completely take off the following holiday season. Keep it to your niche – or don’t – and have fun.
